In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
Usage of AI to generate, modify or translate the writing on your application will result in denial of your whitelist. There will be no chance to re-apply afterwards.
RESPONSE:
Aevaryne doesn't answer straight away. Her eyes wander across the plains, watching nothing in particular.
"No." Then, almost as an afterthought, "Not anymore." She folds her arms loosely and shifts her weight against the wagon wall. "I grew up in a place where nobody moved. We are just like that. The Collapse tore down everything our ancestors built, and instead of doing something, everyone just chose to stay in the ruins and call it home." A short exhale, not quite a laugh. "I did that for a long time too. Longer than I'd like to admit." She doesn't seem to notice as her thumb slides along the sleeve's edge. "Then something happened and I couldn't do it anymore. So I stopped." She doesn't go into detail, instead acting as if she hadn't said it. "I met a Korami man once. He had this old blade hung above his door, which was blunt, decorative, and completely useless. But that wasn't the point. His father kept it before him. His grandfather before that. The whole thing was about not being the last one." She goes quiet for a second. "I didn't have anything like that. Didn't have much of anything left really." At last, she turns to face the woman. "I figured if I couldn't inherit something, I'd just have to build it myself." She pauses. "Someone told me once that was worth doing." Then shrugs as she sighs, looking at the ground. "I'm starting to believe them."

Character Name: Aevaryne Velyndor
Character Race: Arsa Sidhe
Character Age: 30 (is that ok?) I want her to be like 24 in human years
Brief Physical Description: Aevyn (nickname) is tall with warm, tanned skin. Her hair is long and black, falling past her shoulders in loose waves. Her eyes are a striking deep green and have a sort of sharpness to them. She dresses in dark, close-fitted clothing. Her expression is steady and unreadable, the kind that doesn't want to give much away.
