In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
The blond's hands remained interlocked over his lap, a dull stare flitting over the woman's clothing in the silent beats that followed her question. His dark eyes staring back as he thought through what would be his reply. "I've just about had enough of the same things. I considered the midlands, but I figured I'd move farther." Designori's reply was subtle, accentuated with the lightest laugh at the end. "Couldn't tell you what else." He finished with a shrug, before leaning back in his seat. Though that remark was a lie, one which led him to continue on in answering her question only moments after. "I come from shipwork, in the mists. But seafairing has grown old for me, and I'm looking for something else beyond the isles." Arthemis fussed with a silver chain laced around his collar, rubbing his thumb around a pendant as he spoke. The same dark eyes looming toward the flooring. "I want to see the Spire, and what surrounds it. What they have to offer." He looked up at last, a hopefulness to his tone. Though his face settled with no smile, only an absent stare through the older woman before him.
The Mistlander turned aside, looking outside the wagon. "From whence I hail, it's a familiar practice to speak with our spiritual leader in times of discontent. After some months agonizing on the same stagnant feeling, I found it best to seek out some guidance. I didn't think it too common to suggest to a member of your community to depart it," He glanced back toward the woman, as if to see if she was still listening. The stillness of his stare, it's apparent vacancy, and the gentle tilt of his head all contributed to the man's uncanny disposition. Somehow warm, somehow rigid. "-- But that's exactly what they did, and that's exactly what I moved on."
