In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)

“Work,” She huffed in her whispered voice. “It is small man from swamps–Wall-Jack, you call them. I had once escorted him through Amafells. He hired me to keep him safe as he returned to his lands. Our stars matched well. Our contract was sealed during Knighting stars, when Arch was at zenith. If there was ever clearer sign, it would have needed to strike me in face.”
She shuffled more to the side, the wagon creaking threateningly under the shift of her weight. The mercenary froze, looking down towards the wheel with a moment of trepidation, before settling her bulk once more. “My pay, I must admit, is shit. I could make more crowns wiping a princeling’s ass. But that would be foul work, and I would not get half of pleasure that I get from beating shit out of people.” She snorted through her nose, cautiously leaning back. “He get in much trouble. Piss many off. But he is starting to piss me off with his aimless wandering. I swear, I get one hour of sleep, and he is gone! I am always chasing him–and am hardly alone in effort.”
She ran her fingers through her hair. It was a tricky task, with her horns, but the stress demanded it. “However, contract is iron-clad, and I honor-bound. I just hope it can pay off, stars willing. It would be shameful to return to Forn in dishonor. I am off to find him now, following shitty note he left behind.”
“Speaking of--ah, shit. That was my turn.” She would jingle the bell tied to the rope of the wagon, and it slowed to a stop. Truth be told, it was rude to interrupt like this, but the horse was more than happy to let the walking tank hop off of the wagon, the towering Greatling waving her hand as she sauntered down the road. She has a man to catch.
