Hello! I usually go by Pelly or some variant of that. I've been role playing all kinds of media - but minecraft has easily been the most consistent source for me to pour my creative energies into. I have a lot of fun designing new characters and drawing them up. Here's my intended character for this setting!

In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The sound of clinking glasses and idle chatter welcome you in as you find yourself stepping into The Full Cask. An older man with a full mustache and warm smile beckons you over to the bar he's tending. His gaze washes over you, a glint of some knowing look shining in his eyes. As you sit, his voice rumbles out:
"Hello there stranger! What can I get for you?"
After you order, he continues to make small talk. "You must be a newcomer. I'm Maarten, glad to meet you." He says with a certain kindness in his tone.
"Tell me, what brings you to the Spire?"
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)

Your Response:
Lichen had entered the space with care, head lowered just in case the door frame would prove to be too little for her. She went completely still as she was waved over. A point to herself, and only after another wave or a nod of affirmation from the tender did she approach. There was a moment of hesitation, and then she leaned closer to whisper her reply.
“Tea would do me good, please.”
She glanced around for a suitable seat when the next question came. A little gasp and shrug to adjust her shawl. She didn’t want to answer, to talk at all. To look, she just wanted to look. How much to say, how much to share? Maybe help could be found here. Be friendly, give it a chance, be brave. Again she leaned closer so her whispering could be heard.
“Family - Here to… work, trade, sell… Take goods earned home. Hope to… learning much, return with more skills, also.” Visible hesitation could be seen as she adjusted her fur shawl, “Not sword, not to be… mercenary. But also hope to… run into sibling, older, that came here before me. They…. Good with weapon, very good with weapon…. Seeing, saw. Boat? Would not be… unexpected - would not be surprised if, hired, travel more elsewhere… but here is… start, my start. That is, hope. Stars said it was.. Time, was told the Magpie was in flight again, I am good age for leaving nest, for earnings and learnings. Flew far, remove.. Temptation, remove ease, of running back home.”
The woman is visibly anxious to those that paid attention, fingers tapped against her own arm.
“... gave name.” A realized note, “You had given, your name. Good to... meet, to know, Maarten. Lichen, calling me Lichen.” She shared, perhaps embarrassed by the name from the way her head turned away. She had a proper greatling name - but those she met along her way through the Steppe could rarely say it. For all the trading done between her clan and those people, they simply didn’t have the tusks as she did. It got tiring to try to teach them the right way to say it. But a person she had met along the way suggested the name Lichen when they saw the color of her many freckles over her stone colored skin… and it stuck, and it grew on her. Much like her newfound namesake did against the surface of true stones.
"Also hearing.. rumors? Stories, of... excitement. There is many curious here - still much not known. Is long time, earning own stories, too." She did her best to smile, and then the tea is finally completed and offered to her. Both hands took it with care, a bow of her head. "Thanking much."

Character Name: Lichen or “Li”
Character Race: Greatling (Stonerunner)
Character Age: 23
Brief Physical Description: Li is a taller than average Greatling with dark gray skin dotted with gray-green freckles. Her black hair is cut short and is parted by a singular horn that branches from her temple. Though she towers over most at eight feet tall, she doesn’t have the muscular bulk of a warrior, and certainly does not move with the confidence of one.
