“Hardly” he responds in a stern tone to the elder next to himself. After a moment he checked himself as he realized that the uncomfortable seating and cramped space of the wagon had set him a touch out of place. It was a thoughtless quip and quite unlike himself. So, as the kindly elder pushed on with her questions, he eased up and responded in kind.
“I apologize elder. The long voyage and travel across this plane has set me in a sour mood.”
He then lets out a deep sigh as he releases the tension stored up in his body.
“I suppose one would need a reason to travel to a place of such trepidation. Fifty years on and most are still wary. With good cause too. With as many faults as my cousins across the sea harbor, leaving the lands they held sacred without a trace would not be one of them” Pausing, he let that thought sink in for a moment before collecting his thoughts to properly answer the question.
“To be honest, I have come to start my own family” he mentions, glancing to the curved blade at his side. He was unsure if she would understand its significance, though that mattered little in this moment.
“Home had no prospects for myself in any case” he says, continuing on “Here I can be myself and pursue my own goals. I mean to make a name for myself in this strange land” He shrugs “That is the foolish thought that brought me here” Pause “That and my fathers command”
