Hello, I'm Lugar! I've been involved in MCRP on and off for over a decade in various forms and on various servers. I've enjoyed both freeform RP as well as more structured and even TTRPG based servers, although my favorites have been based in DnD. I've been taking a break from all things minecraft and roleplay for the last year or so but am ready and looking forward to getting back in to the scene. I'm not much of an artist, and my skins can be pretty cobbled together but I do enjoy building.

In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (150 words minimum - please make sure to include some references to our lore in your response!)

Balian had been leaning forward in his seat, fingers rubbing at his temples as the cart trudged along. He blinked as the older woman to his side spoke to him and turned to face her, leaning back to sit upright once more.
"That obvious, eh?" His smile comes back easily, a skill he found put people at ease around his gruffer nature. "People have been coming south of the Wall for at least a generation now, seemed wrong to be stuck on a farm when there is so much to see and explore in the Reach."
Balian runs a hand over his beard and clears his throat before continuing "Name's Balian, for what it matters, my family owns a farm in the lands of Rulan."
The woman nods her head as he speaks "A pretty broad reason for coming though, what pushed you to actually do it young man?"
Balian's smile falters slightly and he clears his throat again "Family.. My brother inherited the farm from my folks and didn't see fit to split me off any land of my own. Between coming south to start over or getting sent off to fight some lord's war it was an easy choice." He chuckles slightly, a deep rolling chuckle that faded off almost as quickly as it started "I guess we'll see what awaits at the Spire, eh?"
The older woman nods again with a soft smile, reaching over to pat Balian's arm "It all happens for a reason, son, and luckily you don't seem like some young lad with a head full of tales, thinking you’ll be some Oathkeeper and save fair maidens." She motions to herself in an obviously joking manner, and what was once a smile becomes a smirk.
This elicits a snort from Balian, shaking his head again “As blessed as I’d be, it’s not an audience with the Lady I’m seeking out here. Being a hero is how you get yourself on an early pyre.” He crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back against the wall and letting out a sigh as the two fell into silence.
The cart continued on its way, the mountains and swamps giving way to plains- and soon enough the beginnings of some sort of civilization. They were nearing The Spire. After passing Albern and seeing a few Dunkbear in the river the woman turned again to speak “What will you miss the most?”
Balian blinks and looks to her once more, his attention taken from the two reach squirrels that he saw chasing each other playfully “Besides the family?” He offers a cheeky smirk “I’ll miss the festivals to be sure, especially the spring festival.. Always did love the wares all the travelers brought in- especially the different furs. Suppose I’ll be seeing plenty of exotic things now that I’ll be beyond the wall myself though.”
The older woman gives a sort of sad smile, nodding her head. The rest of the ride went without incident, the pair conversing about what adventures await and what could be expected in this wild new land. Not that he would ever admit it, but the conversation and company put Balian at ease, and as the Spire itself rose on the horizon he felt ready for whatever this new life had in store for him.

Character Name: Balian Marchand
Character Race: Human
Character Age: 30
Brief Physical Description: Balian is very much the unremarkable human. He is built broad standing at a decent 6'1" with fair skin and pale blue eyes. He wears his dirty blonde hair cropped short and generally has a beard if he can help it. He has no scars or other identifying marks and often dresses in simple, sturdy, and comfortable clothes. Balian would not look out of place at any farm of logging camp in the Valkian Realm.
