People of the Spire,

My term will come to an end, and I do not seek to run once again due to a need to focus my attention on matters that exceed the importance of politics. That being said, I will offer my views for your consideration when it comes to election. This is my official stance on denouncing Meriel Noctis as she continues to prove herself as untrustworthy. As many of you may be aware, the destruction of the Guardhouse has been attributed to my actions, and I do not regret any of what I had done. Laws were violated, ones proposed by Meriel Noctis herself, and I did my task on enforcing them. The necromancer Idris only had to sit and wait to receive a penance and then allow himself to be released. We now obviously know how powerful of a mage Idris is, and if he were to taken the penance he was due then I do not doubt with his power and wit it would be nothing more than a trifle to release himself from it.

Behind the doors of the Council of Four's chambers my distrust in Noctis has only grown. Grounds for my concerns are as follows:

• When the troubles that led up the battle of the Garden of Aedell occurred, I proposed an alliance be sought with my people: The Stonerunner Clans. Noctis believed it unwise to seek them out on the basis of a lack of supplies on a trade of food for warriors. Even with thousands of my own personal crowns being invested in agriculture and other businesses in the Spire, Noctis continues to be unconvinced in an alliance with the Stonerunners, who I would like to remind are native to the South Reach which you all now inhabit.
• Recently I have proposed a term limit as a solution to dealing with the Fey threat. As the Fey are able to subsume themselves entirely within the Fey it is impossible to tell where one Fey ends and another begins and so they must be treated as a single entity. This would make it impossible for Fey to run once the term limit is reach, as well as preventing other immortal entities to hold a seat until the end of time. Noctis opposed the notion, which I can only assume comes from a basis of self-interest in exerting power over the people of the Spire. She has proven herself to think she is above the laws set, as Noctis took it upon herself to implement and rewrite laws without an official vote by the Council of Four. In my eyes, such an act is clear case of Treason against the Spire, but the last time I made an arrest by Spire laws I was chastised for it. 
• The Arcanist Accord - I am aware many of you are not quite certain what it is and what it stands for, so allow me to make it clear: The Arcanist Accord is an agreement to do no harm against the Southern Reach and its inhabitants by the responsible practice of magic and protection from malicious magical entities. Noctis continues to avoid signing the Arcanist Accord for reasons undisclosed to myself. Due to her prior relationship with Idris to his arrest by speaking of his power, one can only assume that she has worked with him previously to observe such power and understand the depths of its complexity. It could also be assumed that she is an Agent of the Fey due to her wish to not pass a set term limit. This would mean if she was, then the Fey puppets Noctis and Quincy would have no limit to their reign.
• Finally, when Idris was arrested Noctis wished to release Idris without punishment for the crime of Necromancy, which would entail at minimum graverobbing for corpses to a maximum of murder to obtain the freshly dead. We know he took the body of Veena without permission, so we know graverobbing is the minimum crime in this instance. Should someone unwilling to stand by and enforce their own laws be someone who should remain where they are? I leave that to you
  

In closing, we have many fine candidates who are fitting of the seats. While I may disagree and hostility with some, such as Drenmir, I at least know he is a man of principal due to his Oaths to the Fire Dragon. Meriel Noctis only stands to be a threat to the well-being of the Spire.

People of the Spire,

I refuse Rottjarnsmidar of the Clan Gnarlrack's commendation. I refuse his kind words. Rottjarnsmidar of the Clan Gnarlrack' is a danger to the Spire, a danger to those around him, and a danger to you. I will allow the good woman Meriel Noctis a chance to refute his claims against her, yet know this: My words come from a place of truth, and a place of honor, yet too from a place that I buried long ago in the pursuit of family, friendship, and respect. Heed my words, good citizens of the Spire, and know this man's true nature. Know the falsehoods of his character, and take the words against a good woman for naught but chatterings upon the wind. Know his loyalties to his Patron and Guild above all else, willing to kill for them. 

Both in public and behind closed doors, know that Rottjarnsmidar of the Clan Gnarlrack has committed the following:

-During Rottjarnsmidar of the Clan Gnarlrack's original campaign, an anonymous listings of his wrongdoings were posted for the Spire's consumption by my fiance Callista Fesyla, in line with the Common Law of the Spire, Section 1, subsection 4, "Right to Expression: Freedom to speak, gather, and practice beliefs, provided they do not incite harm." When Rottjarnsmidar of the Clan Gnarlrack found out it was her, he threatened to murder her. To spill the blood of my pregnant, defenseless fiance, should she not beg for her life upon the cobbles outside of his smithy. When told of her pregnancy, he promised to, "Make the child half an orphan." once she was born.

-When Idris was reveled to have saved the life of a dying member of the Spire through a spell attainable by any mage, Rottjarnsmidar of the Clan Gnarlrack imprisoned him without trial. He interrogated the man, abusing his place upon the Council of Four, subjecting him to horrid conditions in the hopes that Idris would reveal his Patron to him in line with the Arcanist Accord's practices. This undertaking of gross misuse of his powers lead to the tragedy that was the destruction of the guardhouse, of which wounded and maimed multiple members of our guardforce and city.

-In creating the Arcanist's Accord, Rottjarnsmidar of the Clan Gnarlrack has deemed Mages who refuse to register their school and patron with his guild as wild, untrustworthy, and a danger to those around them. It is only thanks to Meriel Noctis' quick thinking and even quicker pen that he was not enable to enact further Arcanist policies such as what lead to the guardhouse disaster. It is only thanks to Meriel Noctis' love for the people of the Spire that Mages walk free of legislative scrutiny and abuse. 

In closing, Meriel Noctis will have my first vote to keep her seat upon the Council of Four. She should have yours too. This is not coming from a campaigning politician, desperate for a vote and allianceship within the running, but from a Father and Citizen of this great town we have carved out for ourselves within this ever dangerous frontier. Rottjarnsmidar of the Clan Gnarlrack is a threat to the well-being of the Spire, and to it's citizens, mage and mundane alike.

A quickly-scribbled note on cheap parchment, of horrific calligraphy and needlessly large letters is nailed next to Drenmir's response.

"YOU GULLIBLE IDIOT, FLYING HIGH ABOVE OUR ROOFS YET NEVER SEEING OVER YOUR OWN HEAD, SPEAK NOT OF TRUTH WHEN YOU'RE UNAWARE OF EVEN IDRIS' MAGICS. IT WAS BRACCHUS MOONTUSK WHO, SEEING THE MAD MAGE, CALLED ON ROTTJANSMIDAR PRESENT AT THE TAVERN TO ARREST THE NECROMANCER. WHEN QUESTIONED, THE MAN ADMITTED TO GRAVEROBBING, AND ROTT WAS MISINFORMED BY ME, A NEW ACCORDIST UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ARCANE, INTO FOLLOWING THROUGH. THE DECISION ONLY CLEARING IN HIS MIND AT THE PRESENCE OF HIS PATRON THE WITCH CIREN'NA, SHE RECOGNIZED THE MAN, YET TOLD ROTT TO DEAL PUNISHMENT TO IDRIS AS HE PLEASED, IT WAS AFTER THAT WHEN THE ARREST TOOK PLACE. THE RESPONSIBILITY LIES ON ME, WHO FED LIES DIRECTLY TO A MAN HE TRUSTED, IT IS WHAT YOU ARE DOING WITH THIS NOTICE NOW. A SHAME THAT THE GREATEST PRIEST OF THE NORTHERN DRAGON'S SPIRIT AMONG THE REACH IS ONE COMPARABLE TO ME IN WISDOM, YET NOT A SURPRISE WHEN HE BELIEVES HE CAN SPEAK ON THREATS ON OTHERS, I STILL REMEMBER YOU PROVOKING ME FOR A DUEL THEN DARING TO HIRE THE CRIMINAL MULRATH TO AID YOU, ALL OF THIS HAPPENING IN PUBLIC AT THE CASK. OUR RAGE AGAINST ONE ANOTHER WAS QUELLED, I SOLD WEAPONS TO YOU AND WE SPOKE AS IF NOTHING HAD HAPPENED, THE PATRON I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO VALUES REDEMPTION. YET YOU ARE MAKING IT DIFFICULT FOR ME TO LET ALL THIS GO, YOU ARE HIGHER THAN ME IN SMARTS, WHY DO YOU BEHAVE NO BETTER THAN MY SORT OF BRUTES? LET YOUR ANGER GET THE BEST OF YOU AGAIN IN THESE FALSE ACCUSATIONS, SPREAD QUICKLY AND WITHOUT CARE, AND YOU WILL BE NO BETTER THAN CADAYLE. Drenmir and all who read this,

It is clear that Drenmir is misinformed about what he speaks of, which is a concern that people voting should consider. So allow me to clear the matters he seems to have concerns of.

• I do wish to kill Callista, that much is true. She is a coward in both action and words by throwing out baseless worries in an attempt to slander my name when I had initially ran for the Council. By the customs of Clan Gnarlrack, a duel to the death or a plea for forgiveness are the only ways to resolve the matter. For those who wish to see the "List of my wrongdoings" as Drenmir calls them, then by all means view them. It should be noted that when the revolt against Quincy occurred, I stood before the Gauntlet and could be given no penance. For when I act I do so in the name of law and order. If an ancient beings from another plane cannot find fault in me, perhaps you should consider your stance. Do let it be known though, I no longer find a need to duel Callista in a duel to the death. I do not concern myself with her, nor her pathetic attempts to undermine the good I have done, such as creating the Hermetic Assembly.

• Concerning Idris: Good Drenmir, I find it odd that you opt to defend the necromancer who blew up the Guardhouse and thinks himself above the law to await a trial. When I was informed of his necromancy, I attempted to question Idris to determine if there was a chance his method of revival could end in the production of Necrophages. Idris admitted to the practice of Necromancy, not revival of traditional means that has been recorded in any arcane manuscripts. It should also be noted that we know that Idris is pacted under Nyx. So to any who read this script, let the record show that either Drenmir acts without thinking or has no issue lying to the public when putting forth the narrative that he was arrested purely for violations of the Accord. The only people held to the Arcanist Accord, an agreement of responsible arcane practice, are those who sign the Accord. Both Drenmir and Noctis enjoy the fantasy that I impose the Arcanist Accord on everyone, though there is not any proof of this. As I stated previously when Idris was arrested, the charges were all the laws which Noctis penned herself, and the pleaded to let the criminal Idris go free.
• As for the final point of the Arcanist Accord and my attempts to force people to sign it. I do not. I am wary of those who do not, as it is nothing more than an agreement to protect the public from arcane threats and to maintain honesty among your peers of the Accord. If someone does not wish to sign the Accord, then it is because they do not wish to agree to these terms. The Accord asks nothing of its members than to abide by these basic concepts, and nothing more.

Your attacks on my character are commendable, at least you do these in the public eye unlike Callista, who hides in the shadows and spreads lies and slander. So people of the Spire, I remind you I am not running for re-election. I gain nothing from what I share here other than to inform you of what has happened and what will be.
