Why should they give you magic? (connect with what they value!):  Spoiler Khari has operated with a sense of self-deluded confidence in himself that has unfortunately  found him in compromising, reckless positions- backfiring in traumas he could have never expected. His nightmares rest in the hellish point of his life where he was severed from those he trusted with the feelings of betrayal, forced to save himself, and to fend for himself in foreign lands. Those events re-played enough in his mind every time he closed his eyes to the point that he had to turn the emotions of those traumatizing events into anger, into fuel. He did not attempt to sit idly and put the event behind him or accept that the person he felt responsible was beyond his reach. He carried that fury across the lands towards The Spire. It became his purpose, pursuing vengeance because doing nothing would have felt worse than any consequence that pursuit could’ve brought. Khari would be open enough to share stories of these feelings and nightmares with The Dreaming One if they attracted her attention. The same intensity shapes the rest of his life, as well. Khari wears his emotions on his sleeves and seeks thrills that will get his adrenaline rushing. He takes chances others would likely avoid, and rarely denies himself an opportunity simply because it may end badly for him. To him, a life spent guarded, restrained, wallowing in self-pity, and untouched by risk is hardly a life to live at all. He would rather live fast, die young in the pursuit of all his desires. The Dreaming One may take great interest in recognizing Khari to be a persistent chaser of dreams, motivated by nothing else but the hopeful and/or fearful emotions that reside in making them a reality. He has to have something to believe in. No matter the odds, he will do anything to manifest his hopes for the fear of being without them would be too much to live without. Whether the dream and hopes are distant, dangerous, or dismissed by others as impossible, he will pursue it until he reaches it or exhausts every path available to him, and even then he still wouldn’t give them up. With the Dreaming One’s aid, it would allow Khari to dream more, to reach further, and turn his ambitions into reality. That gift would also not end with Khari. His optimism and willingness to act would make him equally likely to throw himself behind the hopes of others. He would use such gifts to empower people to pursue their dreams instead of letting them remain as such and help guide those through their fears and nightmares that seemed impossible to overcome. The Dreaming One may find appreciation in seeing more dreams come to life and more nightmares and tragedies revealing strength rather than demise, and that is something Khari will facilitate in the world, if invested by her.

Character Name: Khari Mal’arn Desired Fable: Phoenix and Equinox What has your character done to qualify them for the fable / gather the attention of the fable?: Khari has always been driven by instinct and confidence. Restless by nature, he rarely lingers on anything for too long, preferring, instead, action over hesitation or thoughtfulness. Once he confirms the nature of something, that is usually at face value, he commits to it completely, often before considering that there may be more to something than meets the eye. He came to the Spire with that same temperament shaping his initial pursuit of vengeance against his brethren. He cradled closely a one-sided understanding of why he was left for dead and to fend for himself and judged those involved entirely through that perspective. To him, the truth was clear cut: he trusted someone, he had been betrayed, that someone was responsible, and justice meant making them answer for it. The more time he spent in the Spire and getting to know its inhabitants, that certain clarity he had began to fall apart. Khari was forced to confront the possibility that the same defining moment that fueled him for decades could be understood differently by another person without either perspective being false. His pain remained real, but so could the reasons behind the choices that caused it. Betrayal and protection, anger and grief, victim and fault could all exist within the same event, not as separate, opposing truths that cancel one another out, but as two inseparable truths or two sides of the same coin. So, what once drove him toward vengeance now drives him towards seeking out a full understanding. He now is trying to allow room for  another perspective that does not diminish his own, and that acknowledging the complexity of a situation is not the same as compromising conviction. He realizes that it’s within that grey area that the world works in more often than not and also where compromises can be found. His willingness to pursue that difficult truth, rather than the simpler, straight forward one is what now makes Khari want to go on a personal pilgrimage of self-reflection to gain a deeper understanding of this.
