After eight years devoted to tearing walls and fortresses down, I find the notion of building something rather more appealing."   I removed the bit about the "Artillery Corps".  I changed it to just generically being in the Red Fists.  What I had intended by that, is that Adrien was in whichever component of the Red Fists holds its artillery (Trebuchets, bombards, ballistae, etc.).  Presumably a force of roughly 100,000 would be well organized and in different components.  A military force would logically need to be organized in such a way, especially if it is of that size and serves a massive empire.   When I say that Adrien is of "noble birth", I am intending it to be a very small and obscure minor noble family from the duchy.  Not one of any considerable or noteworthy power, just enough wealth and influence to ensure that the family members of the house get into somewhat powerful positions.  Again, in the grand scheme of things, not powerful enough to have any large scale, meaningful influence.  I'm referring to low level bureaucrats, junior military officers, maybe a good position in a local merchant guild.
