In-CharacterRead the following prompt:
The rhythmic lull of hoofbeats are a marching drum to the small group of pioneers and variety of folk you have found yourself amongst, packed into a wobbling wagon. The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands.
“Nervous?”
You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes.
“I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in.
“Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)

The elf looks over to the older woman, bracing herself on the side of the carriage as they roll roughly over a bump. She looks ahead for a moment or two before deciding to speak up.
"Would it be bad of me to say... a want for knowledge and money? I am far from home, but the further I go, and the fresher the pastures, the more rich the knowledge seems to be." She looks back to the older lady, a small smile gracing her lips.
"See, I come from a place... a lot different to here. Up in the west, where the peaks truly reach to the heavens enough to fight back against any mortal that climbs too high. The very sky itself fights back against the ground, striking the peaks with lightning nearly constantly. It is certainly dangerous, but it's been my home for a long, long time. I learned to fight there. My father taught me, even. He made sure I was worthy, ready to defend myself from the creatures that call my home theirs. But... I never wanted to fight. My mom was a scholar and taught me how to read. Taught me of the world, the people who lived where we're headed. I want to learn more of them... and learn from the scholars that have flocked there. I've found that where there's a mystery to be solved, it attracts great thinkers. Not every day that a whole culture just vanishes like it's nothing."
The elf looks back to where they'd come from, following the road with her eyes, tracing it along the hills into the horizon. "I've travelled a long way. Left home a little over a decade ago... I do miss home more often than not... and I try to reminisce where I can. It's hard to find those who even know of my home way out here. It's hard to find spirits to pray too out here, too... these people do not make shrines as my people do. It is worse when you find a particularly horrible monster. A person left corrupted by hatred, or simply by disease and blight. I fought one once some time ago... it looked so very human, though blue, almost... covered in algae... I prayed for quite some days, after I put it down, to ensure its spirit found its way to where it needed to go, once it was no longer being tormented. Happened nearly weekly on the road, with all manners of monster."
The elf sighs, and stays quiet for a moment, before blinking as she realises she'd been speaking too much.
"Oh! I'm sorry, I was rambling a little, wasn't I? I'm sorry. My name is Maoxi... and yours?"

Character Name: Maoxi Zhenfei ( Mao-Shuh Gen-fey )
Character Race: Arsa Sidhe
Character Age: 34
Brief Physical Description: Still young for an elf, Maoxi is still weathered by time and experience. Standing at a relatively medium height of 6 foot, she's not usually one to stand out from a crowd. What does set her apart however, is her hair and her eyes. Her hair, often kept tied up to avoid issues in combat, it a pure, jet black, much like some of the basaltic rock that makes up her home. While her eyes are a dark, stormy purple, liable to (figuratively) entrance those that look upon them. She is fit, and well-trained, clearly ready and experienced for and by a life of fighting, and the scars across various parts of her body explains as such, too. One would imagine on first glance that she is some kind of mercenary or soldier... and while she's had her fair share of combat encounters, it's more out of a necessity than desire for cash. Other than needing money for survival, they do have a penchant for books, often carrying one around with them, in a held bag.
