The rolling plains of the Southern Reach and a clear sky stretch out all around you, the buzz of excited chatter a dull wash in your ears as your mind strays to your former life and what has led you here to new lands. “Nervous?” You blink, returning to the present moment. A kindly older woman sat near you is smiling warmly with a crinkle to her eyes. “I can tell it’s your first time. Still remember mine,” she flashes a grin and leans in. “Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?”   How do you respond (in character)? Why are they important to them?)   ______________________________________   Here he was, on a small wagon towards the south. In a way, it felt suffocating being so huddled together—the breath of others smothering, giving him no space. In his mind, he was worried that at any moment the cart’s wheel (or wheels) would snap off. He misses the mountains. It has always been a place Kauri knew best, one where he felt that he could enjoy life. It doesn't give Kauri any ease as he thinks of his father at home, an incurable disease that mysteriously overcame him... to Kauri's knowledge. His father had gotten paler and weaker as the days went by, and all they could do was treat him temporarily to slow the symptoms. There was said to be no cure, but one can only hope. “Nervous?” Kauri freezes for a second and turns to look at the old woman. He was confused that someone finally spoke at that moment, but it no longer felt that it was as awkward as it already was. The woman smiled, to which he returned. “I can tell it’s your first time,” she grins. “Still remember mine.” Kauri was unsure what to say next, so he waited for the woman to say something again. “Tell me my dear, why have you come to the Reach?” The lady asked as she leaned closer to him. A bit too close for comfort in Kauri’s personal opinion. “To reach my full potential.” He grinned with a light chuckle. “I jest. I have my reasons, as others. You could say it's a bit nerve-racking, even so, it’s like a new chapter of a story!” The brunet pointed at himself. “For me, it's a new chapter to learn more about beasts and medicine. The wonders of the sweet, moderately deadly critters we have around us are a means to discover what else lies around. I want to know if those twin birds from fairy tales are real! I certainly want to find out.” He slouches, wanting to lean back to feel more comfortable, though, it would leave less room for others if he were to. “Although I know about beasts more than medicine. Buttttt— there are a few things I know from learning about both beasts and medical stuff! Such as how Axolotls are something of interest to healers because they're able to regenerate body parts if one were to be cut off." Kauri had a joyful smile as he ranted. "I only learned recently there wasn’t enough knowledge of medicine in my area due to peculiar events, so it was best to go off into the world to find said knowledge to help those in need!” Kauri had words that seemed like he wanted to help those in need, but that may not be the full story of what he meant. “There are still parts of the world I need to see. Ah- I realized I went on a ramble. Pardon me.” He apologized to the woman. “I appreciate you listening to me, though, it truly has made a part of my trip an entertaining experience.” He was about to bow to her as a small gesture of thanks, then remembered the tight area he was in. The next best thing was to shake her hand, but he didn’t want to do that, so for the rest of the ride, he napped with no more worry of the wagon potentially falling apart on his mind.   ______________________________________   Character Name: Kauri (Kah-oo-ree) Character Race: Fae-Touching/Greatling [Mountain-Fey] Character Age: 25 Brief Physical Description: A slender, tan-skinned individual reaching around the height of 6’10ft tall. He has two small rounded horns that come out of his head, on his back are small amounts of feathers in shades of red and orange, which slightly go down to the side of his waist. Smooth brown hair tied up, two in buns, and one in a little ponytail. Kauri’s eyes are a solid deep blue, with pointy ears, and light freckles scattered around his face. His attire is mainly white with mesh under clothing. He mostly wears silver accessories, seeing that he uses them to keep his hair up, has dangling earrings, and chains around his waist with a bell that dangles behind.
