[Notice !] Disparging our Heroes
Started by BmZuzu

[!] the following is posted upon the spire noticeboard and town hall

it is signed: Sun[!]
((OOC: no hate <3, ty for the opportunity for this rp!))

We were attacked. Many of us have gone home to tend to our wounds and await what comes next. A cycle we have repeated for weeks upon weeks now. To protect our town. Supposedly the Mariner is dead so that we might be thankful for, Yet before the next horrors are to come upon our shores again.

I demand an Apology.

Diarmit you must apologise.

Drenmir you must apologise.

Myra you must apologise.

And all other co-conspirators of theirs - you must apologise.

You chose to become protectors, to bear responsibility for the chest, to understand it and disarm its threat to us. For months we have trusted you to do so. Today, you failed. We have bled, and bled, and bled all the while you continued to play Heroes. That only you might be trusted, that only you might be well intentioned, that only you are worthy to bear such a burden. Today showed you are all naught but failures. Today showed that faith is misplaced. Today showed that despite your folly, you have learned nothing.

Diarmit you must apologise for threatening us with a cursed blade for merely asking for answers. Diamirt you must apologise for deluding yourself into believing just you and your friends could protect the chest. We have spurned plenty in our refusal to give up the chest, and now if the situation is not rectified, we will bleed again.

Drenmir you must apologise for your arrogance in addition to your folly. You soar above us and boast of prior ‘heroics’ while spurning us with distrust, with silence. You think yourself a guardian while you have us bleed before and beside you. While uncertainty breeds fear, and fear will breed panic. You are a disgrace to the oaths you have taken.

Myra you must apologise for your selfishness. Your designs on the contents of the chest for your own goals and your own trades. To barter with something we have all bled for as though you are the only deserving.

The rest of you, you must apologise for failing in our trust. In our faith. Do not ask me what I would do, Do not ask me what I would have done. You took that choice from me. You took that choice from us. You CHOSE to play hero. Now we are all forced to. Whether we like it or not.

Apologise. And then fix the situation. And if you need help, Ask. Stop being arrogant and thinking only you can solve things. Speak - without judgement, without insults. Speak and have us understand as you do. Otherwise, do not dare call yourselves wise. Do not dare boast yourselves protectors, guardians, or heroes. Do not dare spurn the burden and mantle you have forced upon yourselves, and upon us.

(If anyone would like to rp with my character regarding this or otherwise, even to act against them - you may contact me on discord: bmzuzu to schedule an rp, or catch me whenever I'm on ^^)

[!]

The following rebuttal is nailed to the previous poster via dagger of shoddy make. It gets the message across fine.

To Sun,
You Lied.

You said Diarmait threatened you, but what you call threat was restraint with heat behind his teeth. He held back storms to speak with calm, and you twisted that, dressed a furrowed brow like a blade to your throat. You lied, Sun. You painted shadows where there were none.

You said I boasted of valor, but as I recall, I said nothing of the sort. It was Ser Adrian who sang their own opinions. I flew quiet, for the most part, my hands still ash-scarred. But you made me a braggart in the eyes of strangers. That lie was yours. And it was ugly.

And then Myra.. You invoke her name like you knew her. Like you held her grief, her fire, her fears. But you’ve never looked her in the eyes. You don’t know her past, her silence, nor her story. You lied again, because it serves you in some strange, anarchist goal.

This seems to be a common theme with you. You've entered the Spire not half a year hence and claim doubts lie in every word. Yet, every word you wrote dripped with smoke and glass. It is meant to sting, meant to obscure. Not to reveal truth, but to control the story. Already the Spirefolk deal with misinformation of this topic, and now you muddle the waters further. We do not know you. Nor do many desire to.

As for the staff, it rests in hands unsullied. My own included. Its whereabouts, as of now, are unknown to me- but is known plenty by the Council of Four.

I don’t write this for your redemption. I write it so others know your ink runs false. So that they know what’s written in gold may be pyrite in the Sun.

You Lied, Sun.
And I will remember it.

[!] A simple notice is placed besides this one, reading thusly;

"Sun, and those reading,

I will address the town along the council soon regarding the events that transpired.

I cannot control how you felt in regards to my words in that heated day. If you felt threatened, then they have been sorely misunderstood. Even if I had explained them to Meridy.

But I did not aim the sword at anyone besides the Mariner, and I did no move to attack you as you knocked an arrow and aimed it at me, let that be a reminder.

I walk the roads, I am easy to find for any that have grievances and wish to speak to me.

Step well,

Diarmait
