Are you at least 18 years old?: Yes. 35 :')
Have you read the rules? (Link): Yes
(Optional) How did you hear about Avalore?:
I had heard of it a few times in the past couple of years, but ultimately it was a friend (Aviforma) deciding to finally join that spurred me into it as well.
(Max. 1) Were you referred by someone? If so, please provide their in-game username: FluffiesttDragon
(Optional) Introduce yourself if you’d like, as well as any creations you want to share (e.g. art, builds, skins):
I tend to go by Ruvy outside of the game itself. I've been doing mcrp for years, though have recently been on a bit of a hiatus due to lack of a 'click' with any servers I've found. I'm hoping Avalore sticks for me, it looks very neat so far! I do art, mainly character illustration, and I love messing with Figura and making fun avatar stuff so I'm real excited to play somewhere that uses it!! My ko-fi and bluesky are the best places currently to see what I've made, though neither one is well organized or complete.

In-Character
Read the following prompt:
The sound of clinking glasses and idle chatter welcome you in as you find yourself stepping into The Full Cask. An older man with a full mustache and warm smile beckons you over to the bar he's tending. His gazes washes over you, a glint of some knowing look shining in his eyes. As you sit, his voice rumbles out:
"Hello there stranger! What can I get for you?"
After you order, he continues to make small talk. "You must be a newcomer. I'm Maarten, glad to meet you." He says with a certain kindness in his tone.
"Tell me, what brings you to the Spire?"
How do you respond (in character)? (250 word minimum - please make sure to include at least three references to our lore in your response, with two coming from different pages in the Compendium. Two of the three selected should also be in-depth, avoid simply name-dropping lore terms. Tie the terms into your character's backstory. Why are they important to them?)
Usage of AI to generate, modify or translate the writing on your application will result in denial of your whitelist. There will be no chance to re-apply afterwards.
Your Response:
Helle was glad for the strong variety of appearances in this town. She hadn't been anywhere quite like it, even back home on the Isles where sea travelers were frequent and could come from anywhere. It felt nice to actually blend in, for once. Of course, a bartender would know anyone and everyone in town, so there was no 'blending in' with this fellow. Hellebore eyed him for a moment, drawing out her time to think by sipping at the simple thing she had asked for.
Why was she here? Well, it was an easy enough answer, if a little lackluster and, she would guess, common to the frontier folk of the Southern Reach. Adventure, purpose, change. She had needed a dramatic upheaval of her childhood life. It had never been satisfactory for Hellebore, as the child of a daring, dashing, swindling privateer of Great Clan Moon, and some unknown man, of whom she could only guess about. Helle never actually got to see any of Ko'ram, and barely even any of the sea, despite her mother's efforts to allow her that life.
"Ah, well, the same thing that brought most folks here, I imagine. Needed something new." Her accent was clear, the lilt and drag of certain syllables marking her quite clearly as a (former) resident of the Pearl Coast. Because that was where she had actually grown up; raised in foster by an aunt and older cousins, who had long ago left the Mori province behind in favor of Luul’yare.
The particular town they lived in was fine enough. She would even say she liked it there, at least in matters of health and community. The festivals were always fun, the lively fashions were a treat to see, fishing life meant food was never all that hard to come by, and the kin she lived with were always kind, or at least polite, to her. But she craved more. Her mother, Aniia Ivey, was the captain of her ship after all, small as it was. The Sea Leopard. They were small on purpose; focusing on swift, stealthy captures of offending vessels by night, or silent raids upon the shores of Clan rivals, as needed. Hellebore had been regaled with stories of these adventures since she was a tiny toddler, listening raptly every time her mother would come to the foreign shore for a visit. These moments may have only happened once or twice a year, but the girl was enthralled. All she wanted was to join Aniia out there, as soon as she would be allowed. Of course, that was never to happen. They tried. Oh, young Helle tried. Unfortunately for her, and her dreams, and even her hometown… Hellebore gets wretchedly seasick. She never made it through a month at sea, let alone the year her mother demanded of any aspiring member of her crew.
"There wasn't anything left for me at home. Not, ah, not in a bad way! They're fine, it was fine. I just didn't have a place, there." It was her own doing, really. There are still plenty of lifestyles and jobs for someone who gets seasick, even in a seaside town. But she didn't want that. After her failure to join the crew, she grew distant and resentful, pushing away her friends and family until most of her time was spent alone, staying up into the nighttime hours and making better friends out of strays and wildlife than any other people, and only brightening up when Aniia made her visits.
There had finally come a day, when Hellebore was nearing adulthood, that Aniia failed to visit on time. Helle waited another entire year, then several months more, and with no sign… She concluded the Sea Leopard must have met a terrible fate. With no reason to remain where she was any longer, she took it as her sign to actually leave. She fought her seasickness one last, horribly unpleasant, time, in order to cross the sea eastward to the nearest port, and south by way of the Midlands from there, even if it was a slower option. The many wagon rides were practically an adventure in themselves, and she wondered if she might reconnect with some of the folks she met in passing, now that she was here in the Spire.
"…Feels like I could find anything, here. Y'know? Name's Hellebore. Nice meeting you."

Character Name: Hellebore Ivey
Character Race: Arsa Sidhe / Fey-Touched (Woodland)
Character Age: 20 years
Brief Physical Description: Six feet tall, slim, but wiry. Her lanky build and long ears show an obvious elven heritage, but the fey-touched half is revealed by thick and long hair only barely tamed, solid amber eyes, and winding blooms of flowering ivy emerging right from her skin here-and-there. She seems to always be accessorized with aspects of nature, such as feathers, bones, and fur, and typically wears light and breezy clothes. Her hair seems to be dyed a sickly mold-pink color, either due to lack of dye quality or a rushed job.

Avatar uses PhysBone on the braid and Gaze for a more expressive face (moving eyes, slightly wiggly ears). The body shape is my own making. I plan to eventually make more bespoke animations but for now she moves in a vanilla way.
