*-=-* Where The Crows Fall *-=-*

A strange rumor reaches you from the snowy valleys of the southern Amafells: dozens of crows and ravens, birds of all kinds, falling dead from their nests each day, cut brazenly in two. A shadow follows their wake of death; a black smog, and a silent, horned shadow with raven-dark plumage, entwined with the husks of what lumberers in the region fearfully report as an unsleeping evil, approaching the river...
A concerned party from the Spire investigates.

Content: There are themes and elements of strong emotions, blood, death, light gore, freezing, bodily and psychological harm upon people (PCs and NPCs) and animals/creatures included in this, within what is appropriate on the server. Please contact me on discord (chuiden) in a private message if you are uncomfortable with these themes or any other subject and I will avoid describing these scenes in detail.
Important Note: Please give me a 24 hour notice if you are switching your character or are not attending. It really helps me set the tone, theming and difficulty of the encounter as I look closely at your character's profile and stats.

OOC Notes
Introduction
Hey there! My name is Chuiden and I will be your DM for this event. This event is open-ended and can be solved in a number of ways, though combat is near certain.
Note on my DMing style and your motivation / group motivation in the plot hook
The plot hook in this post is a device introduced to entice and motivate your player character to engage with this particular storyline. This will manifest as a short paragraph or sentence that outlines the situation in this post, which will be further expanded upon at the beginning of the event that describes the situation and necessary environment details.
I recommend that you, either individually or collectively as a group, determine the driving force behind the plot hook once it is presented. Whether your actions are motivated by altruism, the pursuit of gain, the necessity of resources, to gain favor of the locals, or the desire for a quick profit and exploits, having a clear reason will naturally elucidate your presence in the situation. I hope that articulating a purpose will enhance the depth and authenticity of your engagement with the narrative. This can be internally by yourself, or shortly described to the group at the beginning of the event; you can describe it in your Character Profile section of the signup as well.
I'll be trying to pay attention to your character's background/history, so if you have some relevant experience, you may not need or won't be able to roll, may get some advantages or disadvantages, etc. Please inform me of such experiences if you think it would give you the ability to roll for something as I may be unfamiliar with it -- you are the most informed person on your character.
Mechanics Notes
The event will be postponed if the party minimum is not reached.
If there is combat, please prepare your emotes to ensure a speedy pace. One combat turn is about 6 seconds IC. Please take no longer than 2-3 minutes to emote something in combat. To respect everyone's time, I will be enforcing time limits with skipping turns, reordering initiative, or a consequence for your character.
Finally, no retconning an action unless it was initially impossible.
Note on Difficulty and Complexity
I rank Difficulty and Complexity on two different scales ranging from Low to High.
A low difficulty event is something any player group could accomplish without over-exertering themselves; a high difficulty event is something a full party will have difficulty with; and medium is somewhere in-between.
Complexity ranks the number of threads that are woven into the plot, and the required resources necessary to be successful; the more there are to keep track of, the higher the complexity is.
I would recommend considering your participation based on these two rankings.
