โ€œFor the sake of public interest, I, Erebos, would like to recall the expedition to save Jonathan Finn and his men from the pursuit of the Ravens and Lampwood.

Along with me, the others chosen for this task were Helara of Clan Umeneri, Etwyn Calengarr, Visilthe Alphera, Emilio di Vittori, and Falliren Rytelus. We had departed from the north gates in the noontime, arriving in the mountains where the Finns lay at sunset. Our journey had been fine, except a minor but humorous fumble that sent Master Helara and I into a river, caused by my eagerness. We had to climb the mountains slightly, which proved much more difficult than the trek there. Most of us struggled with climbing, which also served to temper my excitement, but managed to get up without injury. Those injuries would not be avoided for long, however.ย 

I had spotted the gleaming armor of a couple of our intended targets, and Sir Rytelus had spotted Jonathan Finn through his spyglass. Master Helara was familiar with the Finn, however, so we devised a plan where she, Lady Alphere,ย  Sir di Vittori, and I would approach them while Sir Rytelus snuck nearby and Sir Calengarr would post up with his longbow. However, Calengarr managed to injure himself slightly, and ended up joining Rytelus in his sneaking.

We approached the Finn and his men, and learned some valuable information about the Garden of the Aedall. It is indeed not a place, but an old relic if Jonathan Finn is to be trusted. โ€œThe mother of all relics,โ€ he called it. He and his men pursue it for crown, under the hire of a presently unknown benefactor, one that is apparently quite insistent. It was also during this time that the sneaking had gone awry, causing Sirs Rytelus and Calengarr to have to join us four.

A crow had begun to fly above us, which I had noticed. Before I could yell for everyone to prepare themselves, a portal had opened. Ravens. I personally expected it to be the Lampwood that would end up attacking, so this was a surprise. A half dozen of them, led by a woman named Aria. I had tried to convince them to cease their plans, to realign themselves with the will. The Ravens as a whole have not fallen out of it, but murder does not align with the will, and is detestable. They were too blind, however, so the fight was inevitable.

To make the long fight short, we had killed three of the six Ravens, with Aria and two others getting away for now. I would like to take this moment to commend my compatriots, their actions in battle were a sight to see! They all did fantastic, exceeding my expeditions. However, I am quite disappointed in myself. The main Raven I was fighting used poisoned blades, a cheap trick, which made it hard to yield my warhammer. Many of my attacks missed, and it took switching to my dagger to finally get hits in. I was able to dispatch two of the Ravens with much help from my compatriots, andโ€ฆ may have gotten carried away with one whom they intended to take prisoner, causing their death and for poor Sir Calengarr to get sick from the meat and blood upon him. I was badly injured, and received medical attention in the hospital upon our return to town. I am unsure who took care of me, as I went unconscious soon after we arrived, but I thank thee greatly.

We now have a badly injured Jonathan Finn with us. His fight with Aria did not go well. The cowardice of his men must also be noted. As I was near death, I retreated nearby, and the crossbowmen in the Finnโ€™s employment or ranks used that as an excuse to flee. Should they be found, a beating is in order. Finn will be questioned for all he knows of the Garden, his benefactor, and the Ravens, and I intend to make what I can of the knowledge we learn public, so long as its publicity would not cause potential harm.

People of the Spire, tread carefully. It is not to be put past the Ravens to seek revenge for their fallen comrades and failed mission. The Lampwood is also still out there. It is the will of the natural order for the Garden to be used, eventually. While I do not care by whom, I know you all do. Let it fall into righteous hands. If it can be destroyed, that would be best for all parties involved.
