TO THE GUARDS OF THIS TOWN
I shall remain anonymous, for I know you corrupt fools would arrest me just for speaking my mind.
I have heard many a thing about you all, and I must say, I am displeased. Although I will only highlight two points of contention, I have heard much about unjustified beatings and cases of force being taken to extremes. The first grievance I have is the obedience to former councilman Quincy Glover, with the second being these detestable penances.
From what I have read and discussed, there was a public trial, one that took place after his kidnapping, for the former councilman due to his failures to adequately address the many threats facing this town. It is to my understanding that Quincy threatened many of the townsfolk with arrest, and the guards were more than willing to carry those false detainments out. Even worse, at least some of those that were arrested received penances. Although Quincy was in a position of authority at that time, it should be the duty of the guard to protect the people of this town, not act out the selfish whims of its officials. The guards' actions that day were a failure to do their jobs.
Penances. Oh, penances. How they disgust me so. To take fate into your own hands and abuse it to carry out your nefarious desires is utterly repugnant. There is need for retribution, but this is not the way to go about it. I have heard conflicting theories about the dealer of these penances, but one fact was consistent, the being is older than the guard. That leaves two possibilities, either the guard is using the being as a tool, or the guards are the tools of the being. Either way, one party is at fault, and must be dealt with.
Although I have much more extreme opinions on how the guard should be dealt with, I have come up with an idea that will be much more palatable to the people of the town. I propose a citizen review council, one that will handle any complaints against a guard and has the authority to thoroughly investigate these complaints and if need be, enact fair consequences upon the offending guard. To keep the review council free from corruption, current and former guards, current and former members of the town council, and all others in existing positions of authority shall be barred from serving on it. The people of the town shall also elect those who will serve in the review council, and I believe a minimum of 5 positions will be adequate for having a variety of perspectives.
For the people of the town, if you agree with what I have said and wish to see the citizen review council formed, please talk to your town council members about it. For now, that is all I have to say. I wish you all, except the guard, a good day.
