PREFACE

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

A group of people proudly proclaiming themselves as criminals have established a guild of thieves. According to their poster, they offer "services" such as robbery, harvesting information to sell (possibly for blackmail!), planting contraband, vandalism and trespassing.

They aim to recruit more criminals who would align with such deviancy, to unearth this network would bear fruit like no other crime-apple-tree.

The hard marbled floor of JUSTICE rises fast, O pestilent criminal birds!

ENTRY 1

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

The first day of my investigation, I had torn down a poster of this guild to ask the good people of the spire about.  I first went to the hospital, there I met with the kind doctor 'Méra' and the tall lad 'Kaiser Assteller' (along with his strangely silent corner-staring sister.). Neither had any idea about this.

The tavern proved no luck either; the drunkard that was named 'Steel' by their sass-full red clad friend 'Ledroy' (or something) demanded money for finding such people. When I requested him to prove himself, I was unimpressed to say the least. The others in the tavern did not seem to care. Among them was a large knightly woman who refused to look me in the eyes, two men lost amongst their chatter with eachother, and another smaller lady sitting at a table drinking, observing.

I did not expect the people of this town to be so lackadaisical when it came to such serious matters as bringing criminals to justice, but alas, someone has to care I suppose.

ENTRY 2

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

As I was inspecting the flimsy foundations of the soon-to-be new barracks (Captain Helara's previous home), the Arch-Thief of the Thieves Guild, 'Argent Maiden' (a short female, quite giggly, wearing a white fox mask) oh so rudely interrupted me, appearing on the roof.

Revealing to me that one of the tavern-goers from yesterday was one of their agents, I was asked how much I had paid the drunkard 'Steel' and that Delroy  'Ledroy' to hunt the thieves, but of course I would not have hired such incompetents.

The delinquent then goes on to tell me how they are actually good, but a criminal is a criminal. After providing me with a list of less-than-good targets, I insisted on asking why they don't just take the lawful route of hunting these criminals with me, but for some reason she seemed to be infatuated with this idea of a criminal life. Preepos   Prepusturess  Preposturedness  Utterly absurd! The hard fist of justice will fall just as hard as them as any other.

It was not long before the cowardly mask-wearer ran away.

I do wonder who this 'Crimson Oni' is... Or who their operative in the tavern was that day... I have my suspicions.
