TOPIC 1: PIRATES
MILO:
- Affirmed the presence of a “Ghost Captain,” wonders if the Militia or Guards are going to make an official stance in that matter to see them dealt with.
HELARA:
- Helara has suggested the Circle stations a guard watchpoint on the beach with a warning system for the town, such as a bell, to alert the militia in the case of another (ghost) pirate attack.
BRIAN:
- Brian warned others that any time the Ghost Captain arrived, the sea around his ship began to bubble and boil. Waves of undead emerged from the sea and the ship only dissipated after they were dealt with. The water burns people, and the undead will attempt to drag them under, so it is best to fight them inland.
CALLAN:
- The Iron Chest: That damned, cursed iron chest - it bears no markings of the Siren Serene, yet it seems to stir great turmoil in the waters. It was no difficulty to fish it out of the sea, but I regret doing so each and every day. For the deed of rescuing the chest, I was rewarded with an attack by one of the surviving crew members of the Alimony's Due, insisting I possessed it, only to watch him dissipate into red smoke, upon the strike of lightning marking his defeat.
- Boarding the Vice & Velvet: The Captain convinced me and the bard, Chantielle, to join him on his ship, insisting he had some ancient knowledge on an amulet I possess - the Siren's Call. He spoke of the Siren Serene with the same fondness I do, as one of her Blessed. We were taken onto that beast of a ship by another, smaller vessel, our weapons confiscated, save for the bard's instrument. The Vice and Velvet is lined with iron mouths - cannons, ready to spit fire and destruction on command. Their crew rivals any crew we could cobble together, even if we gathered all of our best seafarers, but I suppose we should try anyway.
- The Captain: There is something strange, unsettling about the Captain we housed on our shores for a few nights. He is able to command a strange, odd stillness over his vessel. For a pirate, he speaks highly of honor and is highly driven in recovering the chest for his esteemed King. Be warned of making dishonest - or any - deals with him.
- The Scouting Vessels: There are quite a few boats in our waters, meant to watch our movements. I tried desperately to reroute them but such efforts were futile. We need an overwhelming, ridiculous force to stand a chance - at the very least, that ship gifted to us needs to be outfitted with iron mouths of our own.
- The Boiling Sea & The Ghastly Commander: I am furious about the state of our shores. We have done nothing to appease the Siren Serene to assist us in calming the spite, the hatred that boils our waters. My birthright as fisher and sailor includes tales spun and shared between Mistan fishermen of old. Though they were meant to pass the time, they carried warnings of restless souls and strange phenomena haunting the ocean. Stories of boiling seas were often followed by the tale of a fearsome captain, referred to as the 'Mariner' - one who resembles the tentacled bastard who has been appearing alongside a disgruntled crew of undead. I recognized him from the shanties when he managed to deflect the deft arrow of one of our shrine maidens, an attempt to banish him from the living.
ADRIAN:
- The living pirates have a third, larger vessel captained by one “High King.” They also have enough powder for all of the cannons they possess, though the Vice & Velvet can’t reach the town from its current position out at sea.
MAGGIE:
- Maggie wants to know what the drawback of just giving the Iron Chest to the pirates is.
VYRA:
- Vyra mentions the Iron Chest holds a great portion of Supernatural Power and that it brings destruction wherever it lands.
GRYDDA:
- According to one known as the “Bosun”, the Iron Chest was found upon the destruction of an entire Valkian settlement. It is said to bear a curse that affects any who lay a hand upon its contents. There is reason to suspect the pirates seek to use its power against its kingdom’s enemies.
- The pirate captain, Wulf, serves under Eldrith
VAN PELT:
- Van Pelt wonders who those pirates see as enemies. Would it be a bad thing to loose that supernatural power upon them? Probably. The longer we withhold it, the more we look like enemies to them
DIARMAIT:
- Diarmait mentions that what lies in the chest is probably more than one artifact, rather than just one. The Bosun, named “Hamish,” mentioned that getting rid of the chest is nearly impossible. It is always bound to be found.
- The artifacts still require a closer arcane inspection.
HELARA:
- Helara, Locke, and Hurricane were attacked by several individuals she recalled seeing at the wreck of the Alimony’s Due.
LOCKE:
- Three individuals asked to play horseshoes with Locke, Helara, and Hurricane. Two attackers were killed, but Helara was nearly killed also.
TOPIC 2: HANGUAS
HELARA:
- Hangua Robes are a mercenary warband that is camped east of the Amafell mountains. They have been threatening trade along Northern Road. The militia has been in a campaign against them for the better part of 3 months.
- In two weeks, the militia will meet them in a large battle away from the town.
- The militia is requesting:
- A field hospital
- Crowns to pay the craftsmen who built fortifications & equipment for them
- Wagons & Mounts for militia use
- Barracks expansion
TOPIC 3: VALKIANS
MERIEL:
- The Circle has started negotiating with the Rulanites to help against the Pirates. In turn the Rulanites are permitted to stay in The Cat Nap Inn so they are out of the weather.
ENZO:
- Mentioned it’s hard to see the council housing Rulanites when many spire denizens are living in tents. Requests additional housing opportunities.
TOPIC 4: HOJOS
KONRAD:
- Konrad has spoken to them on three occasions. The Hojos brought gifts. Drenmir confronted them.
- The Craftsmen’s Guild interacted with them. Some of the town’s craftsmen were escorted to the Hojo encampment. The Hojos were not impressed by the wares of our craftsmen, but did hold interest in arcane weapons.
- Konrad’s third encounter is less well-known. The Hojos mentioned wanting to speak with who they believe is an imposter of Etwyn. Etwyn agreed and Konrad made preparations to have him meet the Hojos.
- It sounds likely that the Hojos are here for something far beyond trade negotiations.
ETWYN:
- Etwyn mentions that Akio is not the Lord of the Hojos yet, but suspects that the man intends to take the position. Etwyn also believes Akio wants war.
BRIEZE:
- Brieze spoke to the Hojos on two occasions, stating there is nothing to be kept secret about them. The Atelier represents local craftsmen who wish to seek new markets to offer their goods, as well as new sources of materials. Though eager to come to an agreement with the Hojos, this dealing was apolitical and may serve to benefit the Spire regardless of conflict with the clan. Ultimately the dealing did not go through.
TOPIC 5: MUTANTS
VAN PELT:
- Van Pelt mentions that, while less pressing than the others, the number of ‘mutants’ in the Spire is growing. He suggests that if nothing is done or changed that there will ultimately be animosity in the future.
- Van Pelt is then nearly assassinated.
MISC
ICARUS:
- People doing spars with lethal weapons are taking away from the hospital’s time and resources. Can this be discouraged?
ADRIAN:
- Perhaps people who disobey a doctor’s orders for recovery and get re-injured, or who spar with lethal weapons, can be compelled to pay a fine or offer time and work to the hospital to make up for it. This cuts back on wasting hospital efforts on trivial matters and also helps to bolster the hospital’s capabilities therein.
