Beloved citizens of the Spire-

Though it is not a customary practice, I thought it only appropriate to give an address following the conclusion of our election cycle.

Foremost, allow me to congratulate my contemporaries - those chosen to sit on the council beside myself - for their success. It takes a stronger will than most to intentionally endure the stress and anxieties that are inherent to the electoral system, of which I am no exception. I am proud to have been chosen to stand among those accomplished that have helped to lead this city both in politic and war, and shall personally strive to be deserving of the renown afforded by this office.

Secondly, I would like to thank those that participated, though were not successful with their campaigns. This inclusion is not made to boast or pity at their expense, but to thank each and every one of them for their desire to take part in the continued prosperity of our city. I was witness to several different assemblies during the election, and at each I was treated to capable and charismatic speakers with admirable policy and promises. To each of you I extend a hand, asking that your conviction and vision not be wasted, but collaborated.

Finally, I give my sincerest gratitude to those that supported me during this arduous journey. There were many times where I considered rescinding my endorsement for candidacy, and many moments where the burden of my life's worries compounded into something near impassable. But every time, there was somebody there to give me the encouragement that I needed to continue moving forward. This wouldn't have been possible without them. My heart belongs to each of those who stood by my side throughout, thank you.

I can not assure that I will be a perfect councilor, as such a thing can only be known by the end of my tenure. But what I can assure is that I will perform my duties to the best of my ability, and act with due diligence and compassion, absent of any partiality or venality. I shall be no absent counsel, and shall walk the streets as freely as any of you each day, just as I have since I first arrived to this place. And to any of you, I (metaphorically) offer my ear to accept your grievances. I will never shy from ensuring that each voice is heard.

I will end this letter by again thanking the citizens of our wonderful colony. I can say without a doubt that were it not for you, this city would be without its unyielding spirit.
